Default Top 5 King books of all time

For me, THE RUNNING MAN just delivers. It's the first book I read cover to cover (another being MISERY, which was supposed to be a Bachmann book, until the secret was unmasked).

I believe it was Mr. King's fastest book written (over a weekend, at least that's what I heard).

And a story that just becomes more topical and on-target as time goes on. Another nod to reality TV long before there was reality TV.

My only problem with the story, was the lousy film adaptation, it's in my 5 worst King movie adapatations. Totally should be re-made (or re-imagined, or whatever the Hollywood term is these days).

I always return to this book over the years, and recommend it whenever I can. Love this one.

    Hi,

I agree with you, but I don't think that's very likely in a post 9/11 world, do you?

    Long days and pleasant nights

    This is very difficult..
Perhaps we should make some distinction between the novels and the short stories and novellas..
I will start out with "The Stand" and "It" (I didn't like the movie of "It" though)..
    and then I will think..
.....the rest is a wrestling contest..

Interesting tangent here... am in the midst of the running man now...

    My top five -

    the stand
    the long walk
    salem's lot
    wizard and glass
    the mist

Only 100 into the running man, and it is so much better than the film.
