Differences between Novel and Movie

Hey guys! I noticed a few differences in the novel and movie, and I wanted to point them out. Jack in the book seems to be fighting the evil and doesn't kill the Cook, and in the movie he does. In the novel, I recall he actually hits Wendy with a large hammer/mallet, and in the movie he just chases her around with an axe. It's not that the movie was bad, I just think Kubrick took some things out of the book that should have stayed, what do you think??

Yep, you're not wrong there (to say the least!)

Have you see the made-for-TV remake by Mick Garris and Sai King?

Much more accurate IMO, if not as ....um ...'immediately cinematic'.

Yeah, its very different and not a big fan. Also, when reading the book I cant shake the images of Jack Nicholson and Olive Oil.

I have seen bits of the TV series and it is a lot truer to the book, and better IMO. Im doing a re read of The Shining now and plan on watching both after
