I'm 1/3 done with The Talisman and I had a nagging question (just finished DT) and I'm thinking a yes, no, read-on or ehhh kinda but not really answer wouldn't spoil things.
Any and all insight is appreciated.

I always thought so...they ain't exactly the Peace Corps...
I love The Talisman! It was my second favorite of the few King books I have read. It has been a couple years since I read it but I remember just about the whole book. Some of it is kinda sad and I cried. Wont tell you the saddest part because I am not one to give away anything like that. I do not like spoilers. It ruins it for me. I also think it is kinda rude in the fact that if some one gave me the ending to a book I was reading i dont like it. I am guessing that you are asking weather you should finish or not. If I am right then I will say finish it. You have gone this far and it would be a waste of a good book if you quit now. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the replys.
I literally started this one right after I finished DT. I didn't want the DT sizzle to end.
After I finish I'll comment more if that was prudent or not. What I mean by this is.....my mind wants/looks for each and every link between these "connected" books. I can't turn it off and I don't know if thats is a good thing or bad thing. I don't want to ruin (ruin is probably not a good word), taint (?) listening to this book. Now I've come across .
Anyways, really enjoying it .... .
The DT connections in Talisman are mostly pretty subliminal -- the taheens (taheeni?) in the beginning are probably the single most obvious one. The sequel to Talisman (Black House) deals with Jack 20-30 years later, and the DT connections are made a lot more explicit. Something to look forward to!
We all float down here.
We all look for those connections, good or bad we can't help ourselves after taking the Dark Tower journey! Read on, it's a wonderful story.
if you dont finish reading, it will only haunt you. you know it will! yes, read it!
Finish it, then read Black HOuse - read them both when they were first published, and I gave them both a re-read last fall after I heard there might be a 3rd book in the works . . . great stuff, I got way more out of the re-read than I got the first time around. Typical, it seems of SK's work.
Finished The Talisman this morning and the payoff was worth the early slog. Great story and love the characters.
I think I read it too soon after finishing the DT series. My mind wanted so much to make definitive connections (connections are there, but they're seedlings for the DT) and getting disappointed.
As someone mentioned on the boards, you just got to let go and just read and let the story in front of you take you. Just a tip for all the SK newbs, like myself.
I started on DH which I hear has more DT connections.![]()
