I don't have anything to say about The Dark Tower right now, but it occurs to me that there's a need for threads that first time Dark Tower readers can go to to talk about what they've read so far without being exposed to information about the later books in the series. Maybe these could be stickied...

New readers: discuss your story.

Old readers: be on your very best behavior and don't don't don't ever address things that come later in the series -- don't "spoil" the journey for your fellow-travelers.

This one's an especially hard book to talk about without bringing spoilers into the discussion...

Id say the thingto remember is some books tie in - ensure you read them in order. Do not pcik up Wizards Glass and begin reading, you wont be lost, but your missing out on a whole back story, not to mention getting to know the characters. These are not short books, I recall Wastelands being the longest, or maybe Dark Tower (7), so as you can imagine this is a proper saga. Finally, if your knew to King, I would read the DT series first (thats what i did), then I followed with;

The Stand
Hearts In Atlantis

There are ties, but DT gives you the full picture, making the above a breeze to read. Thanks for the creepy nights, random laughing fits and the literary lesson steve. I remember watching Chapelle and they had a section 'ask a black guy'. Kings question was 'Do black people like to be buried by black priests?' I ask you WTF(ha ha ha ha). If you read his books itd make perfect sense.
