    4 down, 3 to go ...

Finished this one yesterday. I think it was necessary to go back to Rolands backstory, but I must admit that I found it a bit too long. I was often longing for the continuation of the "main quest" (with Eddie, Susannah and Jake) and that probably prevented me to really enjoy the story. Maybe It should have been a separate story like The Wind Through The Keyhole seems to be, but then again: its probably too early for me to tell, as I don't know the path ahead.
I would not skip W&G as suggested in this thread, but it is a long read.

Now let me get a good look at those wolves ...

I am now officially up to Susan's section of the novel. Great things lie up ahead... and many revelations about Roland. Yay!

My first time reading the series, W&G was my least favorite, I think I was too anxious to get back to Eddie, Jake and Suzy to really get into the story. The second re-read I gave it a more thorough go and found I liked it much more.

In my opinion, there is some really beautiful writing in this book. There are also some important bits of information. This book is an important part of the Dark Tower story and extremely enjoyable!

    Yes, very beautiful, indeed, Deb!
I love how vivid SK describes Rhea of the Coos. The reader can just see all of her disgusting, repulsive beauty.
