All That You Love Will Be Carried Away, Question.

In the story, All That You Love Will Be Carried Away, there is a footnote on page 77 that says; To read this you must also look at the exit ramp from the Walton rest area back to highway, i.e. at departing transients.'

Does anyone know what this means? Is it a footnote by Mr. King or is it a footnote by the main character in the story?

It's a footnote by the character, as he muses about the amount of people who are loved by someone somewhere, as they are whirled along and "carried away" by the long ribbon of concrete that has been his only companion on too many trips...that's my nickle philosophy anyhoo...

I'm not too sure about that. It seems to me, he doesn't really have a problem with love. His problems seem to be about life in general. But the last part of your analysis seems right. Thanks.
