    Default amazing read! *spoilers*

I finished Dreamcatcher last night - couldn't bear to put it down and go to sleep so I read just over 150 pages yesterday, and all I can say is...WOW.

It was incredible, one of Sai King's best IMO.

First of all, I liked the Derry connection - with It being my favourite book I didn't expect anything else. But "Pennywise Lives" - very creepy...but I'd like to think maybe The Losers put it there themselves during their return in '85.

Secondly, Duddits. He made the story for me - one of the best characters in any SK book I think. And the beauty of it was, he was just such a simple, loving character - a refreshing change from some of SK's more typical characters I thought. I was close to shedding a tear when he died, but I managed to control myself

And the four guys themselves - Pete, Henry, Beav and Jonesy - a friendship like no other, one that reminded me more than a little of The Losers from It.

I really enjoyed Dreamcatcher, just a shame that Duddits, Pete, Beav and Owen all had to die - such great characters and it was sad to see them go.

I'd give this book 9/10 - if those guys hadn't died it would have been a 10

I agree, Duddits is one of my favs too. To have grown up with him since childhood and never known he was an alien was cool to me. Somehow he knew that this group of guys would help him save the planet in 20 or so years. Great story. Movie was pretty good too.

A post like this once again proves how King makes printed paper people live & breathe for us-and if that isn't a true gift, I don't know what is...

To be fair, the men (& Duddits too) couldnt all live happily-ever-after, it wouldn't have been a SK story then would it?!SK knows whos gotta go when the ink goes on the paper, its a tough job but its the story. What got me was when Jonsey figured out that Duddits had known how to count the whole time! I was glad SK put Duddits in the story--and such a central part of it too. I've got a friend who's sister has down syndrome and she played a harmonica one evening at sunset. It was a slow almost sad tune (she just made it up as she played), but it was sooo beautiful I cried. Please note I dont just cry over anything, even at funerals but this really moved me. Later I (surprisingly enough) convinced her to record her 'song' at a friends recording studio. It was an over-whelming success at our fundraiser for restoration of the family cemetery. Hundreds of orders came pouring in for that musical number accompanied by whip-or-whills'. It was beautiful when the whip-or-whills sang toward the end of her song. sorry got off subject.

I agree ITFan, it's one of my favorites too. I was surprised when I first got here (to SK.com) that it didn't seem to a big hit with all the fans. I've read it 3 times and it continues to be a top 5, at least for me. My favorite thing to do is to read it in the middle of summer, when it's unbearably hot and humid. With all the cold and snow in the book, it's like air conditioning for the soul. I love the bond between them all, I wish I had more friends as true as they were.
