Default pet sematary "remake" or update

    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/48329

I just bought some of those CRITTER books for my daughter. When I got them the person put PET SEMATARY the GREEN cover edition with them. I was thinking when I got it that they should update the film. I paid homeage to the book in my SCREENPLAY. There's a million things they could do with the update. But I must say I saw this summer that ELI ROTH had a top five for SLEEPOVER FILMS. CREEPSHOW made his cut. PET SEMATARY as a kid scared me more than any film. Matbe CHILDS PLAY.

P.S. I must let you know my stance thou they should just stay true to the book. MIST did a good job.

I dunno if Pet Sematary warrants a remake. The Wendigo would be a nice addition, but besides that, the film was a pretty good adaptation and stayed close to the novel.

I'm agreed while alot of people didn't think the original was that good i thought it was PERFECT for what it was. Loved the casting in general, loved Fred Gywnne & his Ayuh's...Gage in his little suit, Zelda???? I usually don't mind remakes alot but i always dug King's late 70's early 80's movies for the most part. Carrie, Firestarter, Shining, Creepshow, Cujo, Children of the Corn, DeadZone...hell even Silver Bullet, Maximum Overdrive and Cat's Eye lol. And let's not forget Stand by Me. If they try to remake Stand by Me i will feed someone to the Mangler..

Enough of my rant, i guess they might do it okay with a remake but i swear it won't be as good as the original in my eyes. There is alot of King stuff that actually hasn't been done, quit recycling **** lol. Oh yeah and there is ALOT that does need to be redone imo...The Stand, IT, Langoliers, TommyKnockers just to name a few of the top of my head. Remake those and leave Pet Sematary alone lol...

Glad to know i'm not alone...there was just something with 80's horror movies to me. Not sure what it was but man... I know they crank them out now (or try to) like they did back then but they just aren't the same. Even my little brothers who where born in 86' and 89' don't like todays "crap" horror movies as much as the old ones & they loved the stephen king ones, when i could get them to watch em' lol.

I think they ought to leave kings orginals and give up on remakes.

HEAVENS GATE - after HEAVENS GATE there was a transition in HOLLYWOOD from WRITERS/DIRECTORS to PRODUCERS...

The 80's was the decade of transition. Seemed like Writers in the late 70'still th e 80's wrote what they wanted more than for hire. Not to mention the HORROR craze where more writers were willing to do HORROR because of the EXORCIST... Then again what do I know... And I'm not saying films now are bad or written/directed/produced bad... films now a days just have a different way about them... Hollywood will never go back they may try but in reality they will still reflect today... The 80's had a cold war bitter dark feel to them... and the action was lock stocked and loaded like CHARLESTON HESTON hunting with RAEGAN and the BUSH's if that make sense...

Then we moved into the 90's were BILL holding a J_____out for the grudge rockers, and the INTERNATIONAL wave that America finally caught up to the public that is with. By then PRODUCERS took over and TARANTINO and ANDERSON brought back the indies and 60's and 70's approach with a 90's GRIT. We had BLAIR WITCH and SCREAM but The SPLAT PACK mainly ROTH holding the SHOTGUN on hollywood brought the 80'S horror craze back to HOLLYWOOD.

I know how I would go about the script if STEPHEN KING would approve. I would take a ALTMAN/PECKINPAH approach.

I agree that the movie was almost perfect (one of my favorite movies of all time)

As for a new Pet Sematary movie, there are certain things I would like and certain things I would not like.

    I would like:
    - A remake of the first, with Stephen King keeping a close eye on the script and how the movie is made, ensuring it keeps the Stephen King feel.

    - A prequel about Jud and his past experiences. They had flashbacks through his storytelling in the first movie, and I feel there is enough information to have a full out movie on it.

    I would NOT like:
    - A sequel to the series (whether it be a remake of the 2nd, or a Pet Sematary 3. It simply would not work out at all)
