We haven't had any word from the production company regarding those casting choices so I would consider it a rumor until we have their official announcements.

They all seem like fine choices, and the seem to be keeping to the (recent) King film vein in choosing "lesser known", but still highly talented actors/actresses
Michael as The Mam In Black would be an excellent choice.
Mark Harmon could play a great Roland. He's a great actor, and he actually LOOKS like The Gunslinger. Look at the man's eyes! Check him out as a Marine on NCIS and then imagine him screaming at Eddie. Come on Stephen! What do the rest of ya'll think?
Tried to get my parents to read them, just once, but my mom won't go near em, and my Dad i'm not too sure, he reads mostly non-fiction. I try to tell folks, read these before they make the movies! You'll be glad you did, but some people just don't get it i think. What's your opinion on Mark Harmon as Roland? I think he's a fine choice!
I couldn't agree more...
Or Roland's father even...
I bet Mark Harmons available...just throwin that out there!
Let's be serious with this, because the deal for Bardem to play Roland is about to be sealed (so more than likely he is taking the part). Javier Bardem CAN make an amazing Roland (if he puts himself into it), but the thing to worry about is if the saga can be held together by him. Speculation of three movies and an NBC T.V. series means this whole deal is going to go on for a good amount of years (probably close to seven or nine), so Bardem is going to have to stick with this role for a good bit of his career. This is a critcal thing for a man in his standing, so hopefully he'll take the role and run with it. He is a fit candidate for the main protagonist, and, if anything else, the most fit for Roland. Not only that, but you can't sit here and tell me Bardem is not a bad ass in nature :
THIS IS THE MAN FOR THIS ROLE!
Bardem is on board with the project but that's the least of their worries. Whether or not the project gets a firm commitment for financing is the more pressing matter of the moment.
