Default Please help, Is IT dead?

I read IT in 1986, I assumed at that time that IT died at the end?
I'm gonna re-read it (IT) again, but please tell me , the spider is truly dead- yes?
His he/she/IT still alive down there? Is 'it' an open question?
Also tell me if this is the right board for such a question.

Thanks from an Associate member of the Losers Club.

As far as any further writings on Sai King's part-the irritable arachnid has scuttled through his last sewer pipe...

It may be dead, but could Ben have really destroyed all of her offspring, in the dark? Surely one of them hatched and scuttled off into a corner somewhere, to later feed on Eddie's dead body for nourishment.

I prefer to believe "IT" is hibernating.
As Sigmund said, evil never dies.

The Barrens were filled in with clay, crushed rock, and old concrete from myriad demolished Northeast dams. The land was bought on the cheap, negotiated by a lawyer--the outspoken Byron LaGuerre--from Bangor. There was blood in the money, and there was blood at the base of the new five story hotel that was creeping up on the outskirts of Derry. Locals claimed to hear construction work after hours. Holidays, even.

Does it actually consume the bodies to nourishment? I thought he fed on the terror hat he inspired in his victims hence children and their imagination were irresistible to him.

I believe he did eat parts of the bodies and the fear added to the flavor. Not quite sure if that was from the book or the movie. But my original comment was just a thought, the offspring would need something to feed on.
