    Default Is it just me?!

I have heard Stephen King actually reads some of these posts. I hope so. Because I have been wondering, ever since the mid 80's, why in the hell he has not directed another film since Maximum overdrive??!! I am knew to this site only because I am a computer retard and I am also sure he has answered this elsewhere before. I know the MASTER is busy, what with books, screepplays and EW and all, but Uncle Stevie owes it to his fans to do another!! I mean, this is one of the great horror films period~ I am into blu ray discs now and have sold off 99% of my stuff to go to blu ray. Of that remaining 1% left on dvd, is Maximum overdrive and Pet Sematary, two of the finest adaptations of SK's work ever. I saw the tv commercial for MO when I was about twelve and it was the Master himself saying it was goinfg to scare the hell out of you, and how he was tired of peple doing his movies and if you want something done right, do it yourself. You did, you came, you saw, you did rock and then you forgot our name in the morning. Mr . King, please O please, give us another dose. A maximum dose. puh puh puh PLEEEEEEEEEZ?

Stephen King himself found his direction of Maximum Overdrive to be completely unsatisfactory, which is why he decided to never direct a film since. I myself found the film to be pretty good, but I am not a professional. I found the only flaw was the heavily AC/DC soundtrack, which I will also attribute to Jon Favreau's Iron Man films.

i LOVE the ac/dc soundtrack. I love this movie as well. i wouldnt say it is one of the greatest horror films of all time but it's one of those you put on, not to be scared, but just to have a good time. here is a review of the movie that i find entertaining. especially the end. watch all the way through!

Stephen King stated he hated how badly "Maximum Overdrive" came out and how it was all his fault since he was the director so he refuses to direct again. I personally LOVE "Maximum Overdrive" -- including the soundtrack. I think Mr. King is a perfectionist and he probably found a slight fault somewhere so he hates the film. Obviously there are faults...it is an 80's horror film! But that is what I love about it!

I always thought the movie was sound and pretty damn good. The AC/DC soundtrack was a good pick also, made the movie even better, imho.

Anyone remember what "Mother's helper" was in Maximum Overdrive?

The lead girl, can't remember her name, carried a straight razor for protection which Emilio Estevez deemed "Mother's helper" when he needed to use it.

I saw this movie. Wow, what a strong statement -- and so short! Anyway, it sort of had that feel of the old drive-in theater movies. Reminiscent of "The Blob", I suppose is how it hit me in some parts. It seemed sometimes that Emilio Estevez didn't really 'enter the scene' with presence, i.e., with a purpose. However, most of it I thought was great, and, overall, I quickly forgave that 'lack of motivation' feeling that only showed sometimes. Remember in "The Blob" when Steve McQueen would enter a scene, say, when the scene cut from the street to an indoor scene? It would seem to the viewer he would have to walk at least fifteen feet to get to where he would stop. But you could tell by the way he entered the indoor scene that he didn't have to walk three feet to get to his position in front of the camera. I believe Stephen may have been very irritated by this as well. Just my opinion, though

I found this quotation on imdb.com which sums it up quite nicely. When asked why he hasn't directed a movie since "Maximum Overdrive", Stephen King responded "Just watch Maximum Overdrive."
