    Default Different Seasons Shrink-Wrapped Book

I've been a Stephen King fan since I read a book named "Thinner" by an awesome writer named Richard Bachman , but this is my first post to this forum. I bought a Different Seasons book that is shrink-wrapped at a garage sale just because I thought it was something different but I can't find out anything about it and I don't want to take off the wrapping. It looks just like my other one, except that it doesn't have an ISBN number on the back. I thought they all did. Sorry to be a bother but I'm very curious about it. It's a hardback with jacket and has a cover like my other one which is a first edition by Viking.

Call Viking publishing-I've done it before- and ask them what they think. I envy your find nice unwrapped ,perfect condition.- Congratulations E.Freemantle
Just call 411 They are located at 375 Hudson Street in New York, New York, and ask for information ,operator,or whatever prompt leads to questions and inquiries?Good luck and take care of that item.

Books aren't generally delivered to stores individually shrink-wrapped. It isn't unheard of for people to shrink wrap them to make them seem brand new. I would be very suspicious of any claims made about the printing of this book. Unless you can check inside the front cover for a price on the DJ and the copyright page, you are vulnerable.

It was in amongst 21 other Stephen King books. Given that it has the same cover as a first edition, I assume it is. It's in perfect condition under the wrap. Maybe since it doesn't have the number on the back it was a promo along with something else? Kinda like you buy a Dr. Suess book and there's a cat in the hat figurine with it in a box. Just a thought. Regardless, I appreciate the ideas. I can't tell you how much I want to take off the plastic.

Not a valid assumption. The cover doesn't change all that often. What does change is the price (only visible inside the DJ) and the printing line number. Also, Book Club Editions generally have the same front cover (but no price on DJ and no printing info).

Thanks to E. Freemantle for the suggestion to call Viking. All "book club" editions have an ISBN number. The lady said, based on what I could tell her, that this could be one of the promotional copies signed by Stephen then shrink-wrapped. Why you would do that then not at least have something under or on the wrap telling you what it is though is beyond me. Only way to know for sure is to open it I guess. Don't want to though.

Honestly, I don't get the whole not breaking the shrink wrap thing since it's so easy these days for anyone to buy the materials to DIY. Seems to me it would be worth more money to know that you had a signed copy even without the shrink wrap and if it isn't signed, then is it really worth any more than the jacket price of the book anyway? Definitely wouldn't be if it's just a book club edition. Just do it!!!
