I'm both a Tower Junkey and a lifelong comic freak, so naturally I've been following what Marvel has been doing with Roland and the gang. I wait until each arc is collected in hard back before reading because, like most comics nowdays, single issues take about 3 minutes to read. All in all, I'm not too impressed. Oh, the art's okay, I guess, but the writing...well...Let's just say I consider these comics to be the watered down, Readers digest condensed versions of The Dark Tower.

But I have a son who digs the heck out of 'em. He's not quite at the reading level one requires to begin an epic like the DT novels, so these comics are his introduction to Mid-World. Now,whenever he reads the latest arc, he grabs his die-cast six-shooters and heads outside to go," huntin' witches, robots, and slow mutants!" Gotta love that...

And yes, I let my son have toy guns and gory comics. Still America, aint it?
