    Default It Grows On You?

So I read this story and was kinda lost at the point of it. As far as I can tell its about some old guys who sit around talking about someone knowone liked. One of the guys happened to see the mans large wife naked and thought about it the rest of his life. Is there some underlying meaning to the story I missed?

My take on it is that the house appears to literally grow on its own, either feeding off the deaths of the people around it or causing them. I think of it as perhaps the root cause of all that happens in Castle Rock. Just an interesting little story.

Not one of my favorites. I too felt lost in the story. It was kinda confusing and not one of Steve's most exciting. But Steve is still the best at what he does.

Is this the same group of guys that talk in The Breathing Method and one more...maybe The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands? It's been a while since I've read Nightmare and Dreamscapes and must admit I don't remember this story at all, but I always liked that group of old men telling weird stories.

Well this is an interesting thread. Nightmares and Dreamscapes is my next book (when I finish Different Seasons). I'm all psyched up to be confused now! Thanks!

I'll agree, I also didn't understand most of this story. What I got from it was a group of old men talking about the time when a rich man moved into town, and every time something odd or terrible happened, a new addition was put on his home. Apparently there is another version of this story that was published in Marshroots a magazine made by the University of Maine. I'd be interested to know how that one reads.
