I AM being a nerd, when I say COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER was released in 1980. But you're right, Sissy appeared in several films before Carrie, not the least of which was BADLANDS, alongside Martin Sheen. That's a pretty good flick, sort of a take on the Charles Starkweather murders.

Sissy did a great job as Carrie, IMO. She starts out really odd and homely, and winds up (right before her pigblood shower) quite attractive, in a creepy 1970s sort of way. Good flick, good story, good director (De Palma rules!).
