I will agree. Kathy Bates was born to play that role. However, I think that James Cann wasn't the best choice for Paul Sheldon but he did do a great job. I mean, I never thought that Heath Ledger would do great as the Joker when I first found out about the role. Shows how much I know.

    Hey Every1,

I LUVED the book and especially the movie, unlike SK's books, sometimes they can screw up the movies, but this 1 was pure terror. The part thatdisturbed me the most; was when Annie takes the wooden block and places inbetween his legs and cracks his ankles with a sledge hammer. That part still makes me cringe and kathy Bates was perfect in the role of Annie.

I loved the book. It was interesting and very suspenseful. But it wasn't any wrong with the movie either. I liked Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes.

Finally read this one. I loved it. I saw the movie ages ago and really dug it, so I was worried that the book would make me not like the movie, but they both stand up independently. I think it's because there's nothing supernatural happening. It's the supernatural stuff that the movie adaptations usually can't handle right. The fact that the horror is based in fan love and very reality driven things makes it a really pure sell. Amazing book though. There are sections where Paul is first getting back into the swing of writing that sum up the phenomenon of get lost in your own story perfectly. Just awesome.

In my highly respected, important and endlessly profound opinion, this is probably the best adaptation of a King novel to screen that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. And, yes, I am in complete agreement with all of the above statements concerning Kathy Bates. (Hmmmm, Norman Bates...Kathy Bates -- fictional character...real actress...hmmm.) She indeed played the crafty and evil role with such ease that the character was 100% believable to me. She can really an observer into the atmosphere she creates for her characters. A wonderful job, if I must say so myself...and I must

I read Misery last year and I loved it!I've seen the movie so many times since I was younger and it's funny how at the end of the movie Paul "saw" Annie at the restaurant, but in the book he sees her in the room (I love that part of the book!).I loved it so much in the book when Paul burned what seemed to Annie as Misery's Return but it wasn't even the book (I think I remember it was a stack of paper with the top paper having the title) and it's funny how she didn't realize the penned letters and I was so happy when she died (I don't know if that seems mean of me,but I'm sure you were all happy too!).Overall this was an awesome book!

Great book and good film Kathy's performance was amazing as good as Nicholson's in The Shining. Agree with the person who said James Caan wasn't the best choice.
