I've read this book quite a few times and listening to the audiobook version is even better. The parts with Norman and his internal dialogue just cracks me up (I know how awful that sounds; phrases like "If they're old enough to pee, they're old enough for me" and "can't pass a lilac bush without stopping to squat and piddle" shouldn't be funny but they are.) and especially when he's talking to ze bool. For some reason, every time I hear Steve say "Shut up you idiot" when Norman is talking to ze bool, I laugh out loud. Yessir, captain. HAHA!!! I have a very dark and strange sense of humor.
