For those of you who won't have heard of Zentih.
Zenith was a character in a long running story that appeared in British comic book 200AD between 1987 and 1992. The story was split into 4 seperate but linking 'graphic novels'.
Anyway, Zenith was that child of two persons whose mothers had been the subject of government experimentation during pregnancy. In the story the mothers were 'treated' with something very like LSD. Most of the children were born ordinary although one was euthenised (by pistol) on account of being so abhorrent. Another was locked away until it could be understood. The rest of the children grew up normally until puberty when various powers and abilities became apparent. Telekinesis, flight, pyrotechnic abilities and so on.
Zenith was the offspring of two of these super humans and had powers well beyond theirs and beyond even his understanding.
I would recommend reading the series if you can get hold of them. The writer cleverly anchors the stories around actual people (albeit under different names), including Richard Branson, Michael Heseltine and Jim Morrison. Its focused almost entirely on Britain during the 80’s so some of the cultural references might be a bit obscure for the American reader.
Bit of a waffle that but having read the first parts of Firestarter it immediately came to mind, I fully acknowledge that Firestarter can first.
