Well . . . if Carrie was your first read (chronologically correct, very good), I guess it's pointless of me to ask if your screen name is a back-handed swipe at Stu Redman (which would be another point in your favor).

In any case, welcome to the board.

I think Carrie was my second read, after Misery and Thinner.
The movie did not do the book justice. Very, very poor adaptation; perhaps the reason I've never found favor with Brian de Palma's later films.

    Good one KC!

And yeah, Carrie in retrospect still holds up tremendously as a first novel-even with the growth and change in his style over the years...

Like a lot of us, Carrie was the first book that started my life long love of Stephens books, I read it in class on the sly lol and at 13 could relate to a lot of the issues explored. I saw the movie a few yrs later, and the ending made me jump 6ft in the air!

Stu Redman? He's the dude in The Stand isn't he? The one who shacks up with the pregnant girl?

Nah, my name IS actually Stuart, and ChickenStu is a name I thought up on a whim for another forum once many moons ago. It's stuck with me since!

Offhand, my first SK book was The Dead Zone. But what I really remember is my Mom keying on me liking it and putting Misery and It in my Easter basket that year.

    Best Easter gift ever!

I enjoyed this book ALOT! It was different than the other books I have read, but I have just one question....I didn't quite understand the ending? It was a letter...I got that much...
But to who and from who? I was really confused on that part. Other than that though, I enjoyed the book alot! It kept me thinking 'wow, what is King even talking about'? But I never once got confused. In his books he really goes out there and says some crazy stuff, but I never get confused!!!!!
I loved this book, totally adored it. It kept me entertained and wanting to read more.

From what I remember, the letter at the end of the book was from from a woman writing to her sister. This is the first time they appear in the story, and it seems like a set up for a possible sequel that I don't think was written (at least not as a novel).
