    Default Just finished the book

Well, I just finished Black House and I think it's great. I even like it more than The Talisman. The narration was so good that I even imagined myself being in French Landing and beating the s**t out of Wendell Green
By the way, can someone please give me some Charles Burnside quotes 'cause I read the translated version of the book and I have no idea how his strange accent sounds like in English?

I agree its a fabulous read - for me not just up there with the Talisman, but as that is my second fave SK book it would be difficult to beat!

I find the descriptions of the town and its people so real - the nasty kids (Ty's friends) etc, we all had friends like that as kids (well I did!)

The prose at the beginning for the first few dozen pages - well I found it hard to get into, I thought that it was quite "hard to read" and dont know how to explain why, but I am glad I did persevere as it turned out to be a fabulous story, one of those that gives you goosebumps at the end.

I finished a reread of this book this weekend. I hadn't read it since it first came out, and I remember being confused by it, but I really enjoyed it the second time around. I think the reason I was so confused by it the first time around was because of all The Dark Tower references, I just didn't get them the first time. I reread all of The Dark Tower books recently, and that really helped me to understand everything that was happening in Black House. Very worthy sequel to The Talisman.

    Hi,

Yes, having read DT makes a big difference IMO.

I'm still hoping that Henry Leyden has a twinner in the Territories in Talisman 3.

    Long days and pleasant nights

I also read translated version of Black House and have to say I liked it much more than Talisman.

I liked the Talisman better. Gotta love Wolf. Good Ole Wolf. But Black House was good too.

Every time I do a re-read I have this question. I may have even asked it already in one of these many threads. I should've asked right after I finished reading since now it's been a month or so and it's not as clear to me.

When Malshun finally gets Ty he mentions something about Burny and his potential replacement. A talented young man from Upstate New York, or something along those lines. Is this person mentioned anywhere else? I don't recall any King stories that take place in Upstate New York. Is there a character from there that ends up somewhere else in a different story? Or is this just another thing I'm thinking too hard about? lol

It is likely that we will get to know this potential replacement on the third Part of Te Talisman series.
I hope that soon we will get news on King and Straub working back together.

A few nights ago I dreamed I met SK (in a village I lived in about 20 years ago!) and told him I was reading Black House (which was true - I've since finished it). I told him I was enjoying it, but had delayed reading anything he had co-authored with PS, as 'I think your writing is like a good single malt whisky; nothing you could add would improve it'. Nice thought - but I had never had it while awake (unless it happened in the Territories). Anyway, I'm a convert to SK/PS now.
