    Default Page Numbers

Hello Everyone, I have discovered and joined Stephen King.com for this particular question.

I recently got in a boasting argument with a friend to see who was the more accomplished Stephen King Reader. I have read more novels (18 to his 13), but he claims the longer novels he has read, It and The Stand, are of a higher value due to their length.

We are attempting to find an accurate listing of the lengths of Mr. King's Books. The Wikipedia page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_King_bibliography, is potentially unreliable, and offers different values for The Green Mile:6X92 for the individual, 552, but only 400, a huge difference for the complete novel. Also, It list The Gunslinger as 224 pages, but the expanded version as 231 pages, only a 7 page difference. Of Course we are using the The Stand Complete and Uncut Edition.

Does anyone know where a more reliable source is for page numbers? This is a petty argument, therefore it is of the utmost importance!

It's not something we've ever compiled. Unless you're using the same editions, there can be a wide variance on the page numbers.

If the confrontation gets physical, grab a copy of Under the Dome.

I would just go to the Barnes and Noble or Borders websites. They usually have the official page number listed on the page for every book. Just go there and add them up.

I would look the books up on the publisher's site. That should be pretty accurate I would think.

Well, if you guys want to be rigorously competitive, you should compare word counts, not page numbers. The same book can have vastly different page numbers depending on the layout. Compare Under the Dome (US): 1074 pages to Under the Dome (UK): 900 pages. Same content in both.

    Get counting!

    What she said.

If this is some kind of competition, just keep reading and see who stays ahead.
