    Default The Character Coral...

    To Mr. King,

My names is Andrew. My mother passed away in February of 2010. She was a huge fan of your work. Now, the story goes, she was an operator for many years for AT&T. She has spoken to many celebrities over her time in her career. I will never forget the night she came home from work and was so thrilled to tell us that she had spoken to "The One and Only Stephen King!" She began to go on and on about this short conversation with you. In her words she said"Stephen told me that I have a very unusuall name. You don't hear the name Coral very often. Would you mind if I used in my next book?" The next boook was Dark Towers 4 Wizards and Glass. I am building a memorial of my mother made out of Granite, with a lot of her personal memorabilia. If at all possible and if the "story" of the character "Coral" is in any way true, I would love an autographed copy of it for my late mother and if possible to have it written to her for her. This would mean the world to her grandchildren and most of all, myself. I hope this message finds you, and thank you for your time and stories. Andrew Fox in memory of "Coral L. Fox 4-5-54 to 2-16-2010. Again, THANK YOU for your time and stories!

I can't imagine why he would have been talking to an AT&T operator, but will ask.

This was last posted on in August...

Hey, Ms Mod... Did you ever ask Sai King about that phone call? Was Coral really named for this man's mother? I'd love to hear the results of your query...

I did. He didn't remember ever having the conversation but agreed to sign the book anyway.
