My husband bought this book awhile ago. It says, the "First Scribner Hardcover Edition May 2010" Just wondering if this is a first edition? Not that it matters that much. It was my mother's day gift from my sons who love and play baseball. Just curious since I didn't see it on the list of first editions. I thought it was a pretty good story, along the other story "Morality"
Actually, the one you have is the first trade edition. Cemetery Dance issued the true first in a limited "gift edition" printing (10,000 copies) about a month before the Scribner edition came out in May, 2010. The CD printing did not include the short story "Mortality", however.
I kind of like Blockade Billy also, although lots of people (probably non-baseball types) didn't.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed BB because I am not a baseball fan-much more than I liked TGWLTG. I will have to add the latter to my reread list. Maybe now I am more appreciative of subjects that don't necessarily interest me. Especially if they are written by the King!!
