    Default Sequel to It?

Is anyone else thinking there might be a sequel to It?
After all in Dreamcatcher there is an indication (by graffitti spraypainted on a statue) that Pennywise is alive. More than that, the cycle of activity by our friendly clown spikes every 27-28 years, and interestingly enough that would make 2012 the next year of action after the book set in 1985.
What with all the hype around 2012 already, an It sequel could be interesting. Thoughts?

Steve has said that he's done with clowns. He doesn't have any plans for a sequel.

I'm glad to hear that no sequel is planned...as much as I love the novel-sequel after sequel leaves nothing to our own imaginings...and Uncle Stevie done with clowns?? Uhh, guess I'd better get a hold of "Poundfoolish", Pennywise's addled cousin-and cancel that singing telegram for Unc's b-day...

Hello miss Mod, sometimes I read interviews or articles and it seems Sai King is a little irritated by how popular It/ Pennywise is. Like when he talked about it in a greatest villain column, or the No Clowns! rule for the Haven Foundation shirt.

Is he really a bit annoyed by the enormous amount of love for Pennywise out of everything he has done, or is he still proud of the book / the monster he created (or both)?

I too am also glad, that a sequel isn't planned. I think that would just cheapen the impact of the original story.

I noticed that too, you can find interviews on Youtube with Stephen on Late Show with Conan O Brien and other shows like Stephen Colbert and all these hosts seem to always start talking about evil clowns. It's not like any of his works DON'T get recognized, but too many people seem to dwell to much on Pennywise.

Also evil clown stuff is really popular anyway even if there was another book about It or the Turtle or whatever, people would still be real interested in the clown. Thanks to the movie I think.

When I think of a Stephen King book that has been made into a movie and think about which movie/book would make a good sequel, I think of "It", mainly because every other Stephen King book seems completely non-sequalish. If a sequel wasn't made, I'd still be happy. It's just that IMO it would be kinda neat to see a sequel or read a sequel of It.

What annoys me about the fixation with Pennywise is the fact that he is the least important character in that book. It is certainly a great monster, but the story isn't about the monster. This fixation would be like people watching the movie classic "Jaws" and only caring about the shark when the story was made great by those three guys that went out on the boat together.
