    Default Making my first post

Just like all other newbies, I have to make at least one post to be able to view certain things on this message board. So here it is.....

I am a third generation Stephen King fan, and have read most of his books except The Shining. That is the only one that really scared my dad (who doesn't scare easily), so I am reluctant to read it. The Talisman is my all time favorite with Wizard and Glass a close second. Now onto more reading of posts. Thank ya.

Hi Dinky, welcome to the board.

I didn't find The Shining that scary, but that's just me. I'd certainly recommend it though.

Hey, it said I'd need to enter the activation number, but I don't see anywhere to do that!? I'm excited about "Help Build Stephen's Empire." It's like a scavenger hunt!!! I'm leaving on a long trip, today or tomorrow, and you can bet I'll keep one eye peeled (I like to keep the other one on the road) for all things Stephen King.

Now I shall reply to your post to make sure I can! The first SK book I read was Four Past Midnight on my brother's suggestion. Since my brother never read anything unless it was a school assignment I was impressed he was reading voluntarily. However, I had started Dead Zone previously and threw it across the room after reading the infamous 'dog kicking' scene and swore I'd never read another thing Stephen wrote. So when my brother said I had to read the first story in Four Past Midnight the only thing I said was, "Do any animals get hurt?" Nope, only humans. (I'm the type of person who was more upset there was a cat on the Nostromo and the alien might get it than I was about Ripley escaping.) Anyway, I had a talk with myself about artistic license and gave the Langoliers a shot. So I read it and was hooked.

I am more of a sideline watcher than an active poster, but as the OP has stated "I have to make at least one post to be able to view certain things on this message board."

    So, me too!

You gotta read The Shining. The movie was way scarier. Nice to see a third generation fan. I am a second generation fan myself. My son reads a lot of HP Lovecraft, so only reads SK if there is a Lovecraftian reference. There are a good few, but not enough to consider him a fan. My husband is not really a reader of anything. Keep posting!

Definately need to read The Shining, although the movie was good, reading the book gives King's art more justice
