My husband bought me this book the day it came out and I started it that night. I would tell you to absolutely stay with this book. It has a great ending too. But I guarantee it will be one of your favorites!

Well, I've read everything (I think!) by Mr SK and have loved everything - but I just cannot get into this book. Am currently on about page 120 and am not being "grabbed" the same as usual. Does the nature of the story change at all or is it pretty much a continuation of the plot to that point? (which is where Lisey and Amanda first talk about Bools).
Thanks (and apologies if asked before, just don't have the time to read all the forums).
Well I persevered and must say was well worth it. All in all a really well written, gripping story and the last few hundred pages whizzed by. Still think a slow starter though, compared to other SK books!
SOWISA baby.
Liseys story? Absolutely stick with it! The answers do come but sometimes its a flashback & then you have an AH haa moment. You may need to set book down & think about it-or maybe dream of it & then hopefully you will begin to understand. if you must go to wikipedia but try not to read beyond where your stuck....is that even possible?? good luck!
I've read over half since now ( when maniac attacked Lisey ). Seems interesting.
Lisey's story was hard to get through at times throughout the book. However! The good parts are really, really good.
This is my all-time favorite King novel. Somehow, I felt a connection to Lisey, and my heart went out to Scott for all he went through. As someone who has struggled with her own demons at times, the idea of a place that can either heal or suck the desire to go on living out of you is very powerful. I found the word imagery in this book to be absolutely superb. I especially liked, "The pool where we all go down to drink" and listening to the hollyhocks. In my lifetime, there have only been two books that I've read more than once. The first was by another author, and I read it twice. The second was Lisey's Story, which I've read four times, and I continue to experience a kind of craving to read it again. I fully believe I will continue to read it over and over for years to come. It touched my heart, and I remember thinking after I read it the first time that I had never thought that Stephen King could make me cry. I love this book! Thank you, Mr. King.
I really didn't care for the novel at all. It is my least favorite of all his books.
