    Default I Write Like website

    Hi everyone. I don't know if you've heard about it, but there's a new website called "I Write Like". You can paste some of your writing in it (it's not stored afterward) and it will determine one of fifty writers whom you resemble!

    I tried it and apparently I write like Margaret Atwood

    I journal like Margaret Atwood but write short stories like Chuck Palahniuk and Stephen King, apparently.

    Saw it elsewhere, put bits of a couple of short stories and a novel 'in progress' (aren't they always?) into it and I apparently wrote like:
    1) David Foster Wallace;
    2) Arthur C Clarke;
    3) Margaret Attwood.

    Apparently I'm liking David Foster Wallace...did it recommend SK On Writing as a must-read for anyone else?

    I copy and pasted this:

    Cholera is a severe bacterial infection caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholerae, which primarily affects the small intestine and the main symptoms include production of profuse watery diarrhea and vomiting. Transmission is primarily by the acquisition of the pathogen through contaminated drinking water or infected food. The severity of the diarrhea and associated vomiting can lead to rapid dehydration (hypohydration) and electrolyte loss. If these are not replaced then death may follow.

    And apparently it's reminiscent of H.G. Wells. Wowsers!

    stendahl, i'm told, copied text of other writers, allegedly teaching himself to write...later on, i'm going to plug in stuff that i've copied...don't see how that worked for stendahl as all i learned was how to transcribe stuff...

    ...but it ought to be a hoot, plug in some writers we all know, see who they write like...heh heh!

    that wallace guy sounds interesting, infinite jest (from the graveyard scene/hamlet)...but then, he hung himself.

    anyone plug in anything by dr. seuss as yet?

    I was a little skeptical, so I posted this:

    "The desert was the apotheosis of all deserts, huge, standing to the sky for what looked like eternity in all directions. It was white and blinding and waterless and without feature save for the faint, cloudy haze of the mountains which sketched themselves on the horizon and the devilgrass which brought sweet dreams, nightmares, and death, An occasional tombstone sign pointed the way, for once the drifted track that cut its way through the thick crust of alkali had been a highway. Coaches and buckas had followed it. The world had moved on since then. The world had emptied. "

    Which you all probably recognize.

    Apparently the author is copying Nabokov.
