the Shawshank Redemption vs. the Green Mile

Which movie do you think is more inspirational? I'm a little torn about it myself. I'd have to lean more toward Shawshank because I loved the movie's theme about good people winning over the corrupt. And how the warden was a Christian man, but his actions weren't, whereas Andy was not a Christian, but his actions had more morals to them than the warden. I don't know, I may be way off base here.

Anyway, which one do you guys think is more inspirational?

I'd have to say Shawshank, only because I've seen it more. I've only watched The Green Mile once or twice.

Green Mile my luv...John is a true "dark" angel...I sense a spirit of the White here that I caught nary a whiff of in Shawshank-though I probably like THAT story better...

I agree with all your points on Shawshank. I think the Green Mile is inspirational on a spiritual level - it makes you believe in things that can't be explained.

Wow, what a tough question. I must say, Morgan Freeman's voice gets me every time, but the Green Mile is just so tragic yet uplifting. Hmm, I think I have to watch them both back to back and see what I think!

I so much loved the Green Mile. Everything about the characters inspired me, enightened me. Seemed similiar to Of Mice and Men (or is it of men and mice, i always turn the title around...duh) and yet turned on a totally different track. To me, Shawshank is a completely different story, but now that you have brought this up Im certain there are many comparisons. But for the vote...Green Mile : )

'some people see through the eyes of the old, before they ever get a look at the young'...well, they can both say that they are an innocent man, that appeals to me for reasons entirely my own...john, 'i'm sorry for what i am...'....whereas andy is not sorry for anything that he is. he is an innocent man. i think green mile has more inspiration for me, although john's end is anything but inspirational. he's tired, tired of it all, and honestly, i don't see much difference between the guards of shawshank and the guards of green mile, including the part played by tom hanks...he was going through the motions, wasn't he, following orders, doing his job and how often do we hear that? he knew john was an innocent man and yet he strapped him to a chair and watched him electrocuted. so it is ironic, seems like, that that one should hold more appeal, rather than the other'n, the one where the innocent man is free....ask me in a year, see what shakes out.

I would say The Green Mile as I have been at the prison it was filmed at and so I have a personal experience with it.
