Apt Pupil (1987)

Hello Marsha,

in 1987, a movie adaptation of APT PUPIL was partially shot. It was canceled because the studio had financial troubles.

According to Stephen Jones' book, "The Illustrated Stephen King Movie Guide", Stephen King saw a raw footage of it, about 2/3 or so, and apparenly Steve did appreciate it.

Would it be possible to know if Steve still have the video? Wander if any footage will be available online. I guess this is extremely rare, and if it's only available on tape.. 23 years old tapes...

That was the version that Rick(y) Schroder (the actor) was adapting. I don't know that we ever had the actual footage as more likely, a screening was set up so Steve could view it.

Actually, according to Steve Jones' book, it was directed by Alan Bridges, and Rick Schroder was playing Todd Bowden.
Stephen King may dont have a tape, i did check the book. As you said, it is more likely that a screening was set up.

However, still according to Stephen Jones, in 1988 studios were trying to restart the project, and some promotional screening tape were given away during an american film festival of Los Angeles (1988).

If only one of those tapes were circulating around.. What a shame that such a footage is lost..
