Default Is there a list of all the fake novels?

As you know Stephen King often writes about authors. Sometimes he goes into the details about what they
are writing about, but most often he just mentions a title. For example, at the end of "Misery" we find out
that Paul Sheldon has written a novel called The Higher Education of J. Philip Stone.

Anyway, I am always tantalized by the idea of these unwritten novels that SK nonetheless has given a title to.
Does anyone know if there a listing of all the "fake" novels referred to in other SK novels and stories?

List of fictional books in the works of Stephen King

Note: there were no responses up when I posted this, so if someone else sent it in already, I didn't see it.

Good question. One I never thought about. We have gotten a bit of the last Misery novel. So, yeah that would be a fun thing to look up. I am nearly at the end of my job for the summer, so mabe I will make myself a little project and get back to the SKMB.

In one of the anthologies (I can't remember) SK gives a nod to Borges (I think in the dedication).

The late J.L. Borges (a man I am frequently accused of worshiping) is an Argentine writer famous for (amongst other things) writing detailed critical reviews of books that don't actually exist. Describing a non-existing book causes one to become a sort of writer (you have to invent the contents, see?)

King also has a lot of Lovecraft references. Mysteries of the Worm (Jerusalem's Lot) is described in one of the Cthulhu stories as a Latin translation of the Necronomicon, and has summoning rituals for things from the Plateau of Leng (called the Plains of Leng in Needful Things, where Mr. Gaunt's car apparently comes from)

I think there's a whole website devoted to imaginary books / books mentioned in fictional books.

    Hi,

What a great idea that is, ff.

Do you think Sai King might allow fanfiction of the fictional novels in much the same way as the dollar baby movies, Ms Mod?

I don't think so, John. Whenever he's been asked for permission by someone else to use a character or ficitional place he's created for their story idea, he has refused because he wants to reserve those rights for himself just in case he might come up with a similar idea in the future. Been sued for plagiarism even when it clearly wasn't, hasn't done anything to encourage his allowing it either.
