I wouldn't call it the scariest, but I did like the novel.
It's a great story.

I think it is more.. spooky.. than actual outright scary. I remember reading it at night, when it was about Bunter's bell ringing when our big dog jumped up on the window outside where I was sitting and I about wet my britches into outer space.. two for the price of one, so to speak. Spooky is scarier to me than blood and guts scare any day. This is one book that lingers..
This is by far my all time favorite novel. I've read it several times and listened to the audiobook so many times I've lost count. The great thing about it is that I catch something new just about every time. There's so many pieces to the puzzle, if your mind wanders for a page or two, you're going to miss a piece. This one just clicked for me. In July of '04 my youngest daughter was born, and I suggested the name Kyra. (I got my way.)
I can't wait for the movie to come out so people can tell me, "I watched this show last night and there was a little girl named Kyra in it!" Me: "No kidding?? You don't see many Kyra's!" Lol!
i dont remember the scene exactly since ive read 40 some books since i finished this.so ill try my best....but the part where mike is at his lake house and first goes down into the basement and he hears thudding....talk about being creeped out! my favorite book ever!
I can't say it is the scariest IMO but, I do have to say those refridgerator people had me getting rid of my alphabetic magnets really quickly!
This was pretty freaky but I think that Pet Semetary is still the scariest =)
Not the scariest for me...The Shining still holds that spot!
Not my personal favorite but still a great King novel.
The only part that was difficult for me is how quickly Noonan accepts the fact that the house is haunted and ghosts are communicating with him. He doesn't seem like the superstitious type. But he never appears to question whether it's just in his own mind. It just seemed a bit overt. Otherwise a nice, slow burn ghost story. It reminded me a bit of Straub's "Ghost Story."
