    Thumbs up The Road Virus

After reading Stephen King's preface and his thoughts before or after his short stories, it's clear to the reader that his intention/goal is to have a very real effect on our feelings- to make us laugh, cry, or be horrified (all of which I have done reading his novels/short stories while growing up)- that is in part what I think has made him so successful. I finished reading The Road Virus story last night, and I literally felt my stomach flip, it truly terrified me. Great story!

I completely agree Esterina. Along with that, i love how he defends his right to keep writing short stories. Since EE was published and the many other short stories he wrote, I believe the short story market is alive and well

It is a chilling read. Loved it. Even loved the short adaptation of it.

The first time I read this one (must have been the 999 edition, it was before Everything's Eventual was published...) I got the creeps from it in an almost gleeful way. It must have been somewhere near the beginning of my love affair with horror. Then, of course, I re-read it in Everything's Eventual and enjoyed it, as I always enjoy a good tale of terror.

Then one night we were driving, northbound, and black car passes us. The license plate reads 'RD VIRUS'. I didn't sleep at all that night.

I'm sure in the light of day I would have just thought 'Aw, another fan!', and been rational and normal. But just being passed by that car that night? The creepiest thing that's ever happened to me. Well, for a generous definition of 'happened to', but still.
