    Exclamation Fifa world football/soccer cup!

    Hey there.

    Any soccer/football lovers here?
The first game of the cup is in progress, half/time, South Africa-Mexico 0;0 so far.

Grand opening, brought back many, many happy memories form a time long, long ago when my dad and I were glued to the tube for a month straight, nothing else existed for us.
Me, just a kid - Dad, my hero, the guy who taught me everything about the game.
He`d skip work, I`d skip classes and we were in on our small conspiracy how to explain to mom why we are at home when we shouldn`t be...
Then a game would finish and we`d go and play, pretending to be Maradona, Zico, Platini, Best, Keagan, Kempes, whoever from those times long gone now.
Brought a few tears this morning to me eyes, the World Cup always does.
Glad I had that time with Dad...

So, tomorrow first match for the USA and England - against each other!
    Looking forward to it?

Well, I`ll keep you updated, even if I have to talk to myself in this thread for a month straight ( errrrr...dang, Ms Mod`s going on vacation before the finale...that`s not good, I mean for the thread and for my valuable insights ).
I`ll bump it up though, be warned.

Enjoy it if you like it.

Well, first game is over, SA-Mexico 1:1 fonal score.
Very good game for an opener, i`m happy.

Next game in two hours, Urugvay-France, in the meantime gotta take Suzana for a walk, she`s getting resteless and mom is tired so...yeah, clear my head too a bit.
At least it`s not raining anymore.

What are your thoughts of the new ball from adidas? Some big time players say its the worst thing they could have done. Say it doesnt fly straight. Maybe exiting for fans but frustrating for players huh?

Yeah, I`ve read that too, they complain that it is to light as well.

But, you know what, it`s the World Cup, don`t complain, lay your heart out there on the field, that or this ball shouldn`t matter, give it your all and the results should come.

And it`s not like they didn`t get the new version of the ball to practice with months ago, so they should really just shut up and play.

I had a full-ride scholarship for soccer during my first year in college; I quit because I lost interest and/or couldn't play well at that level. I don't watch much on TV, but I'm sure I'll watch some Cup games.

My Mom and I were staying in a posh Ritz-Carlton on a business trip eating some pretty damn good room service when the U.S. Women's team won the Cup, and even she was excited.

Soccer/Futbol is kinda like golf, baseball, and bowling...you can enjoy the highlight clips and skip most of it. All three are very fun to play, but not so much to watch for me.

My boys both play...the oldest is a middie and my youngest a forward, so we'll be checkin' in on the action from time to time...

    France-Uruguay 0;0, halftime.
The final score you`ll have to look up yourself, I am 100% sure Ms Mod is not gonna put in some OT on a Friday just cause of some game played somewhere in Africa.

My husband used to play soccer in St. Kitts so he is a HUGE fan. I am not so much but I am being a good wife and letting him have the remote since it brings him so much enjoyment. I have an ulterior motive. I get to watch the "Housewives" in exchange. HAHA He hates that show!!! I did enjoy the footage from South Africa...beautiful music and singing....everyone looked happy....different cultures were side by side with no drama..... I will tolerate him yelling at the tv and the sound of those horns that sound like bees(no offense to anyone, I know it is a cultural thing) since he is happy. I have "The Passage" to keep me buzy!!!
