First EVER Family Vacation

Alright kids-I know I can count on you for sound advice(or at least a bunch of good natured nonsense), coz at the end of July-we're taking the first family vacation ever in the 17 years my beautiful blonde bombshell and I have been together. We're off to Myrtle Beach with our two teenage sons...any advice? All four of us co-existing side by side for a week, when normally everyone is off in their different activities-is a little daunting to think about, I gotta be honest. So, am I in for a treat or should I just track down a Xanax the size of a urinal cake and throw myself to the jellyfish?

First of all, wishing you and the family a wonderful vacation. How about a mixture of planned and spontaneous activities. Check out the attractions and decide what interests each might have. Plan alternatives in case the weather does not cooperate.
Teens tend to like different stuff than parents. Maybe some carefully planned alone time for the teens, some family activities and at least one romantic night alone for you and the Mrs. Just have fun.

GNTLGNT, what week are you going? I'm going to be in Myrtle Beach on a family vacation July 18th through 22nd! Look for me on the beach, I'll be the skinny white guy with a really bad sun rash making sandcastles with my two beautiful daughters.

As for advice, I'd say make sure everyone names at least one thing they want to do and make sure they get to do it. Sometimes when you're in a group you forget that each person has things they would like to do. Don't make anyone resent the rest of the group, make sure everyone speaks up about what they want to do (including yourself). I'm sure the boys would love to go to one of those big tracks and drive a racecar (I did this many years ago at Myrtle Beach) and who knows, you and the BBS might like it too. Also, don't forget to have some unscheduled time where you can just relax.

Get an adjoining room for the boys, well worth the extra cost.

I hope all y'all have a fantastic vacation! My only advice is (and this is only because there are so many golf courses by Myrtle Beach so I'm thinking maybe you're a golfer) don't spend too much time on the golf course away from your family... unless your wife and sons go on endless shopping sprees... then its ok

Yeah, the room is adjoining-and if they get to much teen angst-there's a balcony I can lock em on...We did decide to go to South Myrtle, where there'll be plenty of distraction for them(i.e. more alone time for me and Mom)-but why they think they need all that-I'll never understand. Hell, when I was a teenager-I was in Heaven to be able to lay on a beach and watch all the pulchritude parade by...

I don`t think vacations should be planned, just relax and do whatever you wanna do.

Yeah it's driving(fill me up with three gallons of xanax please and check the oil...)and we haven't made the first plan my best pard Srbo...we'll goof it up and around when we wheel in, in a cloud of sand dust and a tail of used coffee cups...
