The Moon or a Studio in the Nevada Desert ?

If we were there, how come we haven't returned in 41 years? Thats one giant leap.

What does everyone think of the recent brakes put on NASAs return ? "We've been there before," Obama said of the nation's moon. "Lets go beyond it. We want to leap into the future," not continue on the same path as before'.

and while this continues to be debated by so many people, here comes a real Enterprise, our Robinson family quest of adventures with Dr.Smith, or George Jetson, just $200,000. dollars for a week in outerspace (along with a 'crew' of 5 others) just orbiting around out there (unless you crash into something, lol) who would like to go?

Hmm, why haven't we gone back?...now I'm justa guessin' here, but probably because there's no oil or fast food...or anything else for that matter.

Personally, and I'm really big fan (huge in fact) on the space program, I'm glad a return to the moon has been kiboshed by the prez, and feel we do need to "leap forward", in order for NASA and all the industries that contract and do R & D, to help develop new technologies (just ask yourself, what will be the new Velcro?..yeah I know, boggles the mind dudnit?!)...now if they happen discover a swangin' jukebox joint on the dark side, I am sooo in there!

Aaah but come on though Pat dont ya think the moon would be 'just as fascinating' today as it was ooooo 40 something years ago, (or could it be less?) hey that was a BIG step not to mention the Giant leap for mankind in technology since, so Giant that we never ever ever could return and then was gonna take a few more yearssss to prepare to do it again still even now.....? and what about that original footage recently lost by NASA, and who restored it, Hollywood!

looks like its you and me kid, well then here we are on the final frontier .... the footage is not so great but not half as bad as it could be

Well I tells ya, if they make a solid plan to go back and pick up all the garbage we left behind (I'm a litter gitter), I'm all over it.
And just think what they could get for the lunar rovers on E-Bay, what classics!

One '71, and two '72' model Lunar Rovers, seen on TV, each one one of a kind with very low miles (less than five hours actual time), only driven by an astronaut on not much more than a Sunday, and excellent low gravity rock haulers..stored in vacuum, good tires, needs batteries.

    I know I'd bid

Myth Busters did a show on the trip to the moon. They confirmed Nasa did not fake the moon landing.
I beleive retrieving the junk we left behind would be very costly. More money would be spent trying to get the items back than they would make on selling them. I could be wrong though. It would be cool to see those things in a museum. I'd like to see them try to get back there and build some type of space science center there. I think if we could ever get a telescope out there, like hubble, it'd send back some pretty cool pics of space.

I may be misunderstanding what you're saying, Amanda, but there were five subsequent missions to the moon, and twelve astronauts have walked on the moon. It is true. the last one was in 1972 but the space program shifted its focus.

Personally, I'm more fascinated with the idea (and have been for a long time) of a manned mission to Mars. I'm disappointed NASA's programs are being cut back as there have been many benefits to the general public that have come out of the technology that was developed for the space program. I hope the time will come that we can continue but I'm not quite ready to do any space travel myself.

thank you for sharing all that Miss Mod! Sorry I tend to be so confusing, I confuse myself on this one, cause I actually DO believe they went there AND were warded off by aliens ... and I think, (possibly for that ufo/alien reason) that the footage they presented to the public was faked.

I find it all very fascinationg too, and Im not sure I trust our technology to go lifting off to orbit, not that I could afford that 200,000 dollars but it sure is going to be so interesting.
