So do you think I should get The Colorado Kid for the Kindle? I dunno, the reviews seem bad. Kinda split. Your thoughts?

It is written in a different style- like the old fashioned pulp fiction detective stories. Personally, I did enjoy it very much.
It's not his best work, but even bad SK is better than anything else...it's certainly worth a read. My biggest gripe is the lack of resolution, would have like to have had more back story or a sequel...
I think the issue is that many are not familiar with the pulp fiction style. A detective/ mystery done like this is not typical King. As far as lack of resolution- again, it was the style. Cliffhangers, reader to put in the solutions.

Agreed Spidey...I wasn't implying it was a bad read(I've read my share of Mickey Spillane, Raymond Chandler et al), just that the cliffhanger here left me wanting, with no hope of another drink from this particular word pool...
I havn't read The Colorado Kid either. Does it just kind of peter out or does it have an ending? I'm not a big fan of stories that remind me of the energizer rabbit with batteries that run down before it gets to its destinationI loved Umney's Last Case though!
I'd vote YES. It's somewhat similar to From a Buick 8, and a bit of a tribute to authors like Ed McBain. It's slight, it's terse, and it's a quick read. This is the perfect season to be getting to it. Open a beer, find your hammock, and pick your favorite sunny day to get lost.
Sadly, this did not earn my recomendation. If it had been the first SK novel I had read... It would have been my last... . The entire story line is left hanging. It was the first eBook that I have deleted from my library.![]()
