Default What is the most touching thing anyone has ever said to you ??

    Just wondering here...

What is THE most touching thing anyone has ever said to you ?? It can be from a parent, lover, child, whomever....

For me, it was during family night, at my Dad's wake. The parish priest, a good friend of my father's, and someone who has known me most of my life, first came over to my Mom and spoke to her. Then he came to my Aunt and offered his condolences to her.

Then he got to me. He stopped, took my hands into his, smiled at me, and said, "Ah my child, all the things your father found to be beautiful and wonderful in the world, he saw in you"....

That was 5 years ago. I am still moved when I think upon it....

Wow, I could be flip and say the first time I heard "Why yes, yes I'd love to go back to your place" but that wouldn't be true...close, but not really.

No, I think it has to be a younger fella I unexpectedly ran into a few years ago at road food kinda place, a bunch of years after I'd seen him last, when I asked him what he'd been up to.
He told me the story of how he started a small manufacturing company, making some kinds of wacky widgets/gidgets or gadgets for playgrounds & parks or something...musta been doin' alright, drove a sweetly restored Plymouth with the running boards and teardrop headlight..a '39 maybe.
He was at one time under my supervision, working on a landscaping crew in a series of apartment complexes the summer after he graduated high school.
Even though he was a good worker (great in fact), I was always on him asking him what the hell he was doing diggin' in dirt & flippin' sod, with absolutely no plans or ideas about his future.

His mind was steel trap exceptional, he was so very articulate, looked for and then kept his eye on the big picture, and should have been planning on doing other things, and I told him so...including right before I fired him, one of my best guys (and he knew it) from being in my Fall crew...oh yes I did I did!
I also gave him a few books I had on business, marketing and advertising (not like they were doing me any good), 'cause he was always talking stuff up and asking questions on sellin' (something he seemed to notice I have a gift for..pitchin', shuckin' & jivin').

I remembered the books and of course firing him (and how he made me so damn mad taking to being slouch labor like he had to, and maybe aspiring to be a big time supervisor/foreman like me one day..oh weren't those just the heady halcyon days), and I remember gettin' on him, but I don't remember exactly all the stuff I said to him, but he did, and evidently took it to heart.
He thanked me and said I made a big difference in his life (yeah, pretty scary huh?), and how he couldn't imagine where he'd of ended up if he hadn't gone back to school at a little local community college...told him he was lookin' right at it.
He even said he still thought about our many conversations, and how he often talked to his employees about his time working for me and what he'd learned, using landscaping with a foul mouthed snarly bad tempered rat bastid for a boss, as some kind of freakish metaphor for what & how he wanted to accomplish (however one would do that, is a total mystery to me...classic student becomes the teacher I guess)...then he stuck me with the check.
He shore larned reel goodly, 'cause I definitely got "touched", but that's , it was touching.

Hmmm... I was having a bad night at work a few weeks ago. I'd been trying to shake pneumonia and I was really wiped out. An acquaintance of mine came through the till, and asked how I was feeling. It was asked in the sense that they really needed to know because they actually cared. It was not hollow like all the other folks asked me. I just felt as if I was really cared about.

It would have to be either "Do you like gladiator movies?" or "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"

There I go, being an angstier version of Tyler Bing.

The first time a girl I loved told me "I love you" almost killed me. I cried good, silent, hot tears. Then I hit her over the head with my club and dragged her back to the cave.

Yeah, I know, me and my war stories...

We caught a muslim soldier. He had wandered off his position, got lost in the woods and walked straight into our arms, so to say.
Only a kid, really, he was maybe 18 or so. I was only a couple years older.
So, as everybody was crazy anyway during that time, what came next was no surprise - even though hid did surrender right away, threw his rifle away, got rid of all his gear in a matter of a few seconds, that wasn`t enough for a few a-holes from my battalion.
They started hitting and kicking him, for no reason except that he was a muslim soldier.
The kid started to cry, begged them to stop, but they wouldn`t.
Stress, fear, alcohol, madness, whatever it was, they kept beating him.
So, I raised my gun and pointed it at my people, yelled "Enough!" from the top of my lungs and stood there silently.
In all honesty, if they had continue with the beating, maybe I would have shot a few of those bullies in their legs.
I don`t know though, I only know I was scared like schmitt, I knew that however it turned out, it wouldn`t end up good for me. But I didn`t care.
And that`s exactly what happened - they stopped beating him, somebody got to me from behind, wrestled me to the ground and then they beat me up instead.
Spent 5 days in some hole with two broken ribs as a punishment for that, too.
    Again, I didn`t care.
I only remembered the look in the young mans eyes as they were hauling me away, and I didn`t exactly hear him, but I could read his lips.
    "Thank you..."

    And I still remember it...

A couple of years ago my dad, who has always been a very kind, yet reserved unemotional man, told me that he was very proud of the man I had become, and he was not only honored to be my father, he also considered me a good friend.

He caught me completely off guard. My eyes well up every time I think of that day. It will be that memory that I carry with me, long after he is gone.

Been on the road a while so this took me by surprise. My friend of 3years comes to me (not out of the blue though) and asks me if i would spend the rest of my life with him, after i looked stupid, answered yes without really being sure, we sit around talking and he says "Think we are strong enough christians to wait till we get married?"

I think this is the most beautiful thing anyone ever said to me.

Two years ago, I defended an aquaintance of mine (who despite being annoying, has learning difficulties) from two local scumbags. I didn't do much, just told him to leave him alone, and when confronted with the same typical "What are you going to do about it?", I replied in a snarky tone "Nothing at all". They soon left.

Then lunch ended and one of the guys came up to me. He grabbed my collar, and punched me repeatedly in the face. I didn't do anything...and later I discovered I would never have to.

Word spread around my school year, and before I knew it, there was a literal manhunt for this guy. Some people I had barely talked to, actually stood up for me. I caught up with a few of them and then asked them why they were doing this. "Because your a nice guy, and you were only doing the right thing". Never have I felt so appreciated in my life.
