Default Writing the "Dark Tower Trilogy...."

Most of the character set ups I have seen are extraordinary, and my choice before I had read any of this was Javier Bardem. Sorry, new to the forum, but someone voiced their opinion that to get the proper character imagination they would have to cover most of the characters with CG, Computer Graphic's, but that takes away from the actual "Acting." How do you look at how it should be written out! I believe that the first two books should make the first movie, but skip the first book to a point with some flashbacks into it, and work mostly into the "Drawing of the Three." It would make more of a movie for the fans by being able to bounce it around a little, or maybe I am just trying to pull my own strings....

I also think you combine the first 2 books into one film. Probably leave out Roland's encounter with the old corn farmer and his crow and move directly to Roland chasing down the man in black. He should go through Tull, find Jake, encounter the demon, lose Jake and palaver with the MIB. Then, awake on a shore, find Eddie, Odetta and recover Jake.

2nd film should be getting to Lud and escaping and move on to Kansas after the superflu epidemic. Then, really, have a brief story-telling of Wizard and Glass with Susan Delgado & Sheemie and end with the battle regarding the Wolves.

Final film should be from Wolves to the ending.

It cuts A LOT out of the story but if only 3 films, there has to be much editing to whittle the story down to its bare essentials and most constant readers will see a lot that is missed but that is a necessity, IMO, for practical purposes. Otherwise, these films would have to be at least 7 movies, if not more.

The first one was one of teh best, I think there should be an individual movie for it. Wizard and Glass on the other hand, that could be built into flash backs.

seven movies would be good, though. Leaving nothing out at all. Especially Brown and Zoltan, they were good characters.

Each book should have at least one movie dedicated to it, otherwise-they're being given way too little screen/developmental time...no matter the final decision from Hollyweird, that's how the big man here feels-so it be said, so it be done(in best Yul Brenner voice)

I think the way to adapt it cutting the least material is an HBO series, no movies. Just go from beginning to end. Seven movies would take a decade (just look at Harry Potter). By the time you were filming the last movie your Jake Chambers is 22 years old. After BAND OF BROTHERS, I take HBO pretty seriously. It could be really good.

I understand, but with starting with the second book you can keep coming back to the beginnings of who Roland is and where he came from through Flashbacks. It would keep a person from being to much of a critic on how the first book was screwed up when portrayed into a movie and to give the die hard fans an actual movie instead of being able to interpret everything that is about to happen...

I also thought at first, that the first two could be combined. But then I got to thinking after reading some of these posts, about the palavar with MIB, and that seems like a good ending for the first film. But they're both pretty short, maybe they could start on book two, and have all that (Tull, meeting Jake, losing Jake, and the palavar) as flashbacks...
IDK, I'd prefer to have at least 7 movies either way. I like the Lord of The Rings movies, but even those cut out quite a bit of material. Nothing was really lost from it, but just imagine what they might do to the Dark Tower...

I'd love to have 7 movies, too! But then I'd have to wait for them, and after all the waiting I did just to get to finish reading The Dark Tower series, I don't know if I can wait that long, LOL!

I know, but it might be worth the wait if they're better quality instead of a big rush to finish them. Lol
