    Default Just started my journey....

I havenīt read very many SK novels, only about 4 or 5, but I really enjoy his work. I recently decided to give the Dark Tower books a go, finished the Gunslinger and am now about half-way through Drawing of the Three. I am really enjoying the series so far, although the Gunslinger seemed to have a very different tone to all of SKīs other works I have read. The 2nd book seemed to be more in keeping with his usual style. Really enjoying the experience so far (I already have all 7 books sitting next to me, bought them all as I can never stop anything half-way through...)

The only question I have is whether there are any other titles I should avoid before I complete DT. That is, any other SK books with potential spoilers, or which might make more sense once the DT books are finished.

    Any thoughts on the matter?

Insomnia is the only book with a real "vision" into the DT series. Some think you should read it before you get to the end of the series others (like me) read it later. I think you can read the DT series without Insomnia. Other works intertwine with it, though, like 'Salem's Lot. On this website there is a list of works that have something to do with the DT series. I am sure Ms. Mod can post a link to it, I'm still learning to navigate links. :-)

i imagine you might do what i did...read the seven once twice more...sk said he had a blast writing the stories...i had a blast reading them time and again. i guess i read most of the 7 before reading other stories, though i did read others...and the thing about rereading them is that on another pass through, you get that ecstasy of perfect recognition thing going on...those gotcha moments when you smile and say neat-o....i didn't catch that the first time through.

I would read DT in its entirety, and then read everything else. You'll find many connections, especially in Insomnia, 'Salem's Lot, Rose Madder, etc..

I was thinking that. It's better to finish the series, then read some of the other stuff. And Rose Madder was a very good book btw...
