What a film!

This was one of the most realistic films I have ever seen. I'm talking about mainly the abuse of a person by inmates. It couldn't have been more graphic. Yet, it didn't make you want to look away - this was real life at its worst.

I work around this kind of violence every day in a state correctional institution, and it gives you an idea of what passes for "normal" behind the wire...surroundings and technology may have changed-but the ugly spirit stays the same...

I have to agree with "what a film" . I don't think that I will ever get tired of watching this movie. Don't know what it is about it that I love so much. Probably that he won in the end in such a big way. The ending always makes me feel good.

This movie is one of my favourite movies of all time. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are awesome.

Shawshank and Green Mile are two movies I just love. I also like the books. It is all so real. My oldest daughter is a corrections officer and some of her work stories sound so much like this. It is so unreal the way inmates treat each other.

I'm not a big Tim Robbins fan, but he nailed it in this movie...The whole cast was superb and Morgan Freeman carried this one...More of these type movies please!
