Whatever happened to Talisman being made into a movie?

I loved The Talisman and read that 20 years ago when I was a teen, and read Black House within a month or so of being released as well. Back in around '02 or '03, I remember being in a Kmart (I used to work at an inventory company, going from store to store, in this case maybe doing 40-50 Kmarts a year, and counting the merchandise) and I am guessing it was around the time when Black House was released in paperback form, and I found they had a sticker on the front cover, saying "Watch for Talisman to be made into a movie? mini-series? blah blah" and not sure if that was supposed to be on TV but probably a mini-series with how long that was. I was excited since that was one of my favorite books as a teen!

But Kmart was the only place I found the Black House paperbacks with those stickers, and I guess I eventually forgot all about it and now 7-8 years later, was wondering what happened to that movie, was it cancelled or what?

You'd have to ask Steven Spielberg about the status as he's the one who's had the film option all these years and he doesn't update that information with us. It's been on again/off again so many times in various formats that I personally have developed an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude.
