    Wink Done!

Ok, so this took me quite a bit to read. Couldn't get in to it until the middle, but once i hit the middle, it sped right up! I was actually cracking up when - the coke machine attacked the two cops, and they joked that they didn't fire a warning shot or read it it's civil rights before shooting it - LMAO! Think i'm gonna read Cell next....

The Tommyknockers....I started this, stopped half way through re-read Under The Dome and then came back to this and finished. I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either. It was choppy & had a lot of people in it that I felt were underdeveloped or just boring.
I liked Gard, but I knew pretty quick he was going to be the last "normal." I just figured he die outright at the end. I also knew the book would end with David Brown coming back as soon as the magic show chapter was over.
Guys like Monster Doogan and the reporter were wasted. They did nothing to move the story forward. I felt like they were written to die.
There was plenty of good parts of the book. I LOVED the ted the power man chapter, and most of the Gard interactions. I can't call Gard a hero, but he was a good "good guy." Did anyone else picture Gard as a black man? He was Benson circa 1985 in my mind's eye.
Overall all I'd put this at the lower end of the King list. But like they say a OK King is better that most else.

    Things to note:
One of the radio stations they picked up was from Arnett, TX
Derry Home hospital / A clown in the sewer / voices in the drain.
    TR90
    Castle Rock
Was the kid at the ocean from the talisman?

who are some of the characters underdeveloped and/or boring? isn't that how "real life" is, though? i spose i shouldn't argue for one point or the other w/o knowing who you mean. if it's minor characters w/passing through parts...i spose that's what i mean by "real life". on a given day, you might have some interaction w/another and though the event might have profound implications for you, you never see that person again. but even that kid at the beach (yeah, he sure seemed like jack from the talisman, a kind of jack, whether they be one and the same is open to debate) had traits his own...he lived, for a time, in that scene, though we didn't see him again.

I didn't care for the start of The Tommyknockers, either, but it got a lot better when it sped up. (I can't stand slow books!) Hope you liked [U]Cell/U] and that you'll enjoy Needful Things.

I don't know. I guess I expected Monster to play a bigger role in saving Haven. He was set up as a hero. I think the reporter was written to die, but again he was set up as a hero.
I guess in my mind I saw Doogan Gard and the reporter coming together to save Bobby and the town.
Not my story, I know. But I'm a critic as well as a fan. I will say I'm glad I read the book.

Its funny how a lot of people had trouble getting into this book, I loved every minute, Bag of bones I found hard to get into, even though it's supposed to be great, will go back to it. Tommyknockers had me hooked from the start. Loved it!
