    Default Let's talk vasectomies

I'm getting my preliminary exam tomorrow, and will likely be scheduling the actual operation.

I love my two kids but feel complete as a family and don't want any more. I don't think my wife could
handle another pregnancy, both of hers were very rough. Also, her doctor says she won't be able to
continue taking "the pill" forever, so I volunteered for the vasectomy.

Did any of you guys get the operation? How was it? Is it really going to hurt? How soon before you
    felt normal again?

Women, what are your thoughts on this? How about some words of support, I'm a little nervous!

    Hi,

Yes, exactly the same as you, I didn't want her taking the pill any longer than possible so after our second child we left the decision for a couple of years to see what we thought, and after two sleepless years we decided we didn't want no mo', so I had the snip, but being a coward I had a general anaesthetic.

No, it didn't hurt although there was some residual low level pain for a couple of days for which you're entitled to be spoiled.

I've never regretted it although if I had to do it over I would have some sperm frozen in case of changing circumstances.

    Good luck!

    Long days and pleasant nights

As I recall, get your vas deferens tenderly sliced and then a blind Mexican matador sticks a white-hot piece of metal up your ass to seal the deal.

The good news is that you get all the icecream you want.

Disclaimer: I might have this confused with my own medical procedures.

    Well said.
In case I ever decided to go that way, that`s exactly what I would do.

I, for one, am very proud of you! Most men think it is the women's "obligation" to worry about birth control. You are a very caring and loving husband who has put his wife before himself. If there were more men like you I PROMISE you there would be less divorce!

    Way to go dude!

My husband had a vasectomy and never regretted it. He told me he wished he had not hesitated in the first place.

Good on you buddy! You're doing a very responsible thing...never had the old "snippy-snip" my ownself, but having dealt with fellers that did-I would advise keeping an ice pack and some over the counter analgesics at hand-just in case. (Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go lie down-coz you used the word "support" in your post(not that you'll need a sling or anything))...

You'll feel a pinch, you'll feel that you are being moved or handled but no real pain. (Not like passing a watermelon through a straw). Keep the ice bag handy. The worst of it will be the itching when the shaved hair starts growing back in. Good Luck. (Like Mr. D said, frozen sperm, just....'cause)

I being a woman have never had this procedure. However, a guy friend of mine did and he said that the frozen bag of peas were his friend. Quick healing and speedy recovery.
