Big Jim Rennie = Obama?`

I'm about 2/3 finished with the book and I was just wondering if anyone else sees the obvious parallels between the fictional Big Jim and the unfortunately real Obama. With King being a big Lib, I doubt it was intentional but it is certainly there. Both share the deceptive, petty, underhanded, damn the public, my way or else mentality. Most obvious is the "never let a crisis go to waste" belief. Not that many are paying attention but Obama is just as despicable as Big Jim and, while O has not yet bashed anyone's brains out or sold meth to my knowledge, he has proven himself to be just as willing to do ANYTHING to get his way (a socialized USA). The evil of the two 'progressive' men is so similar that it is scary/funny.

Appearance wise, I saw Big Jim as a mixture of Dick Cheney, Richard Nixon (King references Big Jim's "Nixonian appearance" at one point), and Rush Limbaugh (his grin with "tiny teeth"). Idealogically, Big Jim is every egotistical, Republican politician, who shouts loudly about Christianity and "family values," but is actually a self-serving, amoral, supremely non-Christlike, opportunist. I see absolutely no similarity between Jim Rennie and Obama. However, it is interesting how people can see in King's work what they want to see, and that's the secret to his broad appeal.

I guess that makes it all the more humorous that Jim is far more Obama-like than Cheney. A writer's subconscious works in mysterious ways.
