I loved reading Rose Madder. If it were made into a movie I would also watch it.![]()
I have this one both in hardback and audio (I'm listening to the audio right now as I type this). The parts where Mr. King reads as Norman are my favorites, although Blair Brown does a very good job as Rosie.
John-you would be correct. Ms. Mod let us know on May 28, 2009 that the film rights to Rose Madder were purchased by HBO but they never filmed it. It's a shame too because cinematically, it would be beautiful.
I've just finished the book and I'm still in the world of Rose Madder.
It was so fascinating to read and I loved the atmosphere of Rose's dreams, I had the feeling I was dreaming myself
That's what I love so much about Mr. King , he writes passages you really can empathize with.
I also like some quotations, he uses in his books, for example "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." That's one of my favourites...
I only knew it in German and also didn't know who was the first to mention it, so I searched for it on websites ;P I found out that it was George Santayana in his book "The Life of Reason", but I'm not sure if that's really true (never read it ^^)
But it's so true. It fits to the tree symbol, which signifies something like eternity or a bad/good memory...maybe even a kind of...sorry, I don't know the English word for it :/
What do you call "something you need to calm down, when you're in rage"? In German it's "Ventil"...
I just didnt understand why Rose gave the bracelet back to Rose Madder, but I guess she did because she realized her own strength.
To cut a long story short, I really love this book ;P
And dont forget your own trees ^^
Greetings
