    Default Gerald's Game

Sk's skill in this story was to tell a story with the protagonist tied to a bed for three-quarters of the novel. I know that it is wise to keep the plot within a cocoon where there is little chance of escape eg. a ship, an island, a floor on top of a skyscraper or an aeroplane. But this must have been the ultimate quest.

This is one of my Fav books by Sk. What spooked me in this book is[SPOILER]what's crouching in the corner that she keeps waking up and seeing /SPOILER] that kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know.

you know, i loved this book, one of his best, i think. i sometimes wonder if this, along with 1408, was almost like a personal challenge - write the horror in just one room...

I think this book is quite overrated. Not a masterpiece, but it was a darn good read.

I liked this book, but t was defiently different from his other books, in that there is no weird, supernatural going-ons, except for the incestious father and the eclipse.
But I did like how he wrote a whole (or,at least most of the book) set in one room-NOT an easy task to do !
And Raymond Andrew Joubert was very creepy.
I wasn't quite sure, though --Did he end up screwing Gerald's dead body or did he not get a chance? I know in the end,in the letter Jessie was typing, she mentions necrophilia and RAJ's love for wearing penises strung round his neck, for luck, but I wasn't sure.
I did like the story--not as creepy as his others but still very interesting.I am sure my great-uncle,Park Dietz,a psychologist for psychopaths in LA,would agree!

P.S. References to 'It' were sprinkled all throughout the book !

I found the story similar to Misery, which I read recently for the first time. I then read Gerald's Game. Both are great reads! That Raymond guy sure was a creepy twist to the story...

It never ceases to amaze me how varied from one another sK fans' likes and dislikes are. For instance, Gerald's Game will always be one of my favorites. I assume this principle holds for other authors. I know I like certain works better than others of my other favorite authors. But in sK's case, I sense that people care more than they would in the case of another author. Maybe that's just speculation.
