help with a stephen king short story?

i was talking to somone the other day and they told me about a short story which may have been by stephen king the plot of the story was there was a man in a mental home who was visited by ghosts who told him stories and everyone time they told him a story they would wither write on him or cut him. jw if anyone has read this story and whether it is actually by stephen king.

The plot sounds similar to that of the Book of Blood (a short story in an anthology of the same name) from Clive Barker. I don't know if that is what you were looking for, but it's the only thing I can think of.

That wasn't set in a mental home, though, so who knows.

Yeah I thought of Books of Blood too. There are also similar story arcs in Gaiman's Sandman series.

I've reread all the SK story collections recently and it definitely does not ring a bell in that context.

thanks for the replies everyone i looked up on the book of blood and it sounds similer to that i dont know where the person got a mental home from though. does anyone know if this book is worth reading?

I was recently given both volumes of Clive Barker's Books of Blood. Read them both cover to cover in about 4 days. Absolutely brilliant, the mans mind is warped!! His imagination really knows no bounds, and I thoroughly recommend them.

i havent really read anything by clive barker tbh just got told about that books of blood by him might have to start reading him though he sounds like a good writer atm im looking to start reading him or dean koontz depending on which i think seems the better writer.

Haven't heard of that one, but I have not read all the collections. I just bought Just After Sunset today, so I have not read it. Sorry, though, that story doesn't sound sound familiar.
