should i read the stand?

i am 16 and a big fan of stephen king having read most of his books. i read IT which is one of his biggest books and its my favourite book of his. But i always hear the stand is his best book i attempted to read it 3 times before when i was younger and always gave up. i was just wondering if its worth picking up again now i havent got any other books to read. thanks

im currently reading the stand and im on page 900 and sumin at the moment im loving the book its 100 times better than i remembering it being. i was just wondering but ive heard there are 3 diffrent copies of this book my copy has 1421 pages and was published in 1991 is my copy the uncut version or is there another one released after this that is longer than this as i would be intrested in reading it. thanks

yikes!...1421 pages?...so, paperback, right?...i have an uncut version, usa paperback, and mine is over a thousand, but nowhere near 1400!....maybe you got some extra notes of sumpin in that one......and wasn't that something....the original had something like 150,000 words cut from it! COME ON! whud were they thinking? just goes to show sometimes...just goes to show.

Great book. Read it now and then read it again when you are in your 30's. You'll have quite a different perspective.

That sounds like the uncut version to me. The earlier version was written in the 70's and it the editors made SK cut some of the good stuff out to make it shorter. You've got the better version I think.
