Default Revised version, how important is it to re-read before I finish the series?

I have recently finished the third Dark Tower book and I'm about to start Wizard and Glass but I just realized there is a revised and expanded version of the Gunslinger!

I have read and enjoyed the original non revised version already and was wondering if it would be of any benefit to read the revised expanded version before I go any further. Or should I continue to follow the path of the beam and re-read it after I finished the series?

Is there anything that ties into any of the later books that was added to the revised edition that might make it a good idea to read the new edition before I go on?

You should be fine to keep going and some people have suggested reading the revised edition after finishing the original 7 books so your instincts are good.

    Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

AWMMS (And What Ms Mod Said), I consider the Revised Gunslinger the 8th book in the Dark Tower cycle.

Enjoy Wizard and Glass (you will!!).

    Long days and pleasant nights

I wouldn't want to tell you to go back after getting so far, but I did and it worked well for me....but I also have a horrible memory so I found things I did not remember and made correlations with stuff that happened later on. Whatever you decide, Happy Reading!

I'm currently reading wizards and glass, (revised version) I'm reading the whole series again, this is the third time. The first time i've read it, the fifth book wasn't even relaesed yet. I've read the 1-2-3-4th, then, about two years later, in 2006, i realised that the series was complete in library. I rent the 3 last novels, and read them all in 5 days. Last year, my boyfriend bought me the whole serie for Xmas. I've read them all in 10 days. When i finished to read, i went on the dark tower site and then discovered that the version i had for Xmas was the revised version. I didn't recall a major difference between the books that are mine and the ones that i've read about 7 years ago. Of course they're differences, but if you are this far in your reading, don't go back, read the whole story and then, the second time you'll feel the Dark Tower calling you, try the revised version. Anyway, each time i finished the dark tower, the only thing i can think of is re-reading it. I'm reading the serie for the third time now, it took me two days and a half to get to 4th novel. And i know for sure that when i'll flip the last page of the last book, my only desire wiil be to read the first one again.
Long days and pleasants night to you sai.

Since the original is still fresh in my mind I think I will save the revised version until I finish. It will be something to look forward to when I re-read the series again. The Dark Tower will definitely be calling me again. In fact I'm just about to finish Wizard and Glass now what an amazing book!

Beam, you have been blessed by Ms. Mod...angels weep at your good fortune! LJS(Like John Said)-you can consider the revision the "last" installment of the greatest pursuit of all time!!!
