The Song of Roland... Has anyone read it?

I have read all of the Dark Towers and know that is based on Childe Roland of the Dark Tower Came, the poem. I just finished reading the French Epic, "The Song of Roland". The ending of this epic is coincidently about Roland and a horn. I want to know if anyone is aware of the connection because the ending of this epic almost makes me lose any hope for Roland at the end of the dark tower series. It had ended for hope for me, but after reading The Song of Roland, it gives a whole new insight.

Has anyone else made this connection or read this epic?

i actually read it just last year in college. i thought the story was a fantastic epic and immediately saw the connections. however, i see the similarities mostly pertaining to the Fall of Gilead and the Battle of Jericho and NOT the end of DT7. I still see hope for the Gunslinger at the end of DT7-- but yeah, now with the graphic novels giving more insight to his early years before his journey to the Tower, the parallels between the two stories are hard to ignore and can understand your own worries. it makes me wonder if Sai King had read "Song..." as well in the early days of the series and unconsciously (or consciously) put in those parallels -----(sorry, i'm listening to the Beatles right now and "Hey Jude" just came on and lost my train of thought, )----- or if Robin Furth is also aware of the story and putting the similarities in. its weird, i know. especially since i haven't read anything where Sai King mentions "Song..."---- only the poem "Childe Roland..."; I also wonder if "Childe Roland.." was inspired by the French epic....
sorry if i've made absolutely no sense. but.... thanks for your post nontheless! it's nice to know that i'm not the only DT fan that have read that epic!
